OEM System Integration

OEM system integration refers to how the dealership’s systems connect with the vehicle manufacturers’ (OEM) systems for various processes. This can include new vehicle ordering, warranty claim submissions, recall management, and reporting sales. For instance, when a Canadian dealership sells a new car, they often have to report the sale to the OEM through a portal or integrated system so that the customer warranty is activated and the OEM updates its inventory and sales records. Similarly, when the service department performs a warranty repair, the claim is submitted electronically to the manufacturer for reimbursement, often via an integrated link in the DMS. Integration reduces duplicate data entry – information keyed into the DMS can flow to the OEM’s systems or vice versa. In Canada, bilingual requirements might mean some OEM systems operate in both English and French for dealers in different provinces. Effective OEM integration ensures that a dealership stays in compliance with franchise requirements (like updating inventory availability or completing recall campaigns) and streamlines operations by avoiding having to manually re-enter data across separate systems.
